Language Specialist – Luganda | $95/hr Remote at Crossing Hurdles

Position: Luganda Language Expert

Type: Hourly contract

Compensation: $40 – $95/hour

Location: Remote

Commitment: 10 40 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Translate, edit, and proofread content between Luganda and English with high accuracy.
• Curate, review, and annotate datasets for AI language model training and evaluation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop Luganda language resources.
• Provide feedback on AI-generated outputs to improve accuracy and fluency.
• Create linguistic guidelines and documentation for Luganda language use.
• Identify language patterns, errors, and gaps in generated content.
• Support development and optimization of Luganda language datasets.

Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in Luganda with strong written and verbal skills.
• Strong experience in translation, editing, or linguistic quality assurance.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to language accuracy.
• Ability to analyze and annotate language data for AI or NLP projects.
• Strong understanding of Luganda grammar, syntax, and cultural nuances.
• Familiarity with digital tools for language data management.
• Ability to work independently in a remote and fast-paced environment.
